Legal Assistant
A legal assistant works in a law firm providing aid to a lawyer in the research and preparation phase of a case.
A legal assistant is responsible for investigating facts and presenting a relevant report to the lawyer on the case, as well as preparing, organizing, and tracking important legal documents for easier access by the lawyer.
Some legal assistants work 40 hour weeks throughout the year, while others are employed during busy times and work long hours if a deadline needs to be met.
Since most legal assistants work in law firms, business attire is usually required.
Legal assistants need training. This can be obtained through a degree program or with a certificate if you already have a degree. The following colleges offer legal assistant degree programs or certifications.
